Hugh Fletcher

I'm Hugh Fletcher - a part-time programmer and attempting blog author. Over the past seven years I have spent most of my spare time working with html, php, mysql, and javascript. Over this time I have developed/designed several websites, and many conceptual web applications.

My main passion is php, and having worked with many web content systems and frameworks, my primary focus is the framework CodeIgniter, and the content management system ExpressionEngine, Scriptaculous, and Winbinder. I also strongly believe in XHTML standards, accessibility, and browser compliance.

Being a self proclaimed computer geek, I have experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, particularly in web server environments utilizing IIS and Apache. My day job at RFW Construction Group(not a website I did) consists mostly of none of the above interests, and perhaps the one exception is the major use of Autocad.

I am available for work on all types of web projects. Currently I am trying to build a portfolio, and am interested in doing work for organizations and individuals, particularly in the West Tennessee area, at minimal pricing. Feel free to to discuss any project, shoot the breeze, or just go have a beer if you'd like.

The Blog

Having said long ago I would never do a blog, I have changed my thinking on this and here's why...

  1. Over time I have found myself reading more weblogs while doing research or to just stay up to date. This coupled with that at times I was working on something not well documented, has encouraged me to contribute my experiences to the community.
  2. Considering myself experienced in web development, however not having a lot to show for it, I wish to use this weblog as an ongoing 'archive' that would help validate my knowledge to potential clients/employers.
  3. I enjoy web scripting and naturally just needed a web presence. I have several applications that I wish to clean up and make available here soon. I also plan to use this as a launchpad for future projects.

Ideally, my writings will consist of anything web development, but with a strong focus on php. However, I can't say that I might stray off course at times(it is my blog ya know).

Never the less, thanks for stopping by.
